Maptek releases Vulcan 8 for the drill and blast industry

Maptek releases Vulcan 8 for the drill and blast industry

MAPTEK has released Vulcan 8 software package which is suitable for use in the drilling and blasting industry.

The system contains new open cut drill and blast tools, streamlined menu options and improvements to display options.

The company says an on-screen preview of drill and blast patterns eliminates potential layout problems before a blast is even set.

Furthermore, the new double stitching option allows extra holes to be inserted midway between previously created blast holes using the same, or completely different, hole design parameters.

Excessive toe burdens can be handled by adding holes around the blast perimeter. Maptek says Vulcan 8 allows the depth of blast holes to be recalculated as a group to reflect the new surface, saving time and reducing errors.

Holes can still be edited individually, with alternatives for maintaining the two-dimensional collar location, or three-dimensional vector of angled holes.

Maptek says Vulcan 8 also directly addresses safety and regulatory issues.

A drillhole warning calculates how far a drillhole is from blast areas, allowing re-design of drifts if necessary.

Similarly, the proximity alert allows engineers to easily check designs for existing voids.

MEC Resources receives pre-drilling site survey approval for offshore Sydney Basin

MEC Resources receives pre-drilling site survey approval for offshore Sydney Basin

MEC Resources has announced that investee company Advent Energy has received approval from the New South Wales Department of Primary Industry for the pre-drilling site survey in the offshore Sydney Basin petroleum exploration permit PEP11.

Advent, through wholly owned subsidiary Asset Energy, was required to submit an Environmental Plan (EP) to the NSW DPI for its proposed exploration activities in PEP11.

The NSW DPI has subsequently advised that the geophysical site survey component of the EP has been accepted, pursuant to the Commonwealth Petroleum (Submerged Lands) (Management of Environment) Regulations 1999.

WA drill rig maker Industrea wins new product orders from China

WA drill rig maker Industrea wins new product orders from China

GLOBAL mining products and services provider Industrea Limited has signed more than $3.7 million of new product orders along with a new distribution agreement.

Industrea Managing Director and CEO, Robin Levison, has signed separate contracts for the delivery of an AMT directional drilling and methane gas drainage system to Zibo Mining Group’s Tingnan Coal Mine in Zibo City, Shangdong Province for $3.05 million, along with $0.7 million contract for the delivery of AMT gas drainage drill rods to Beijing Huajin Wanshun Machinery.

Industrea has also further broadened the OEM product range for its China product support centre, becoming the exclusive distributor in China and Mongolia for the HYDCO 1200H Multi-Purpose Drill Rig.

The agreement signed with Hydco International Sales Company is for a three-year period through to September 2012, and follows recent exclusive distribution agreements in the same market for Filter Technology Australia filtration systems and Marathon RL run flat tyre technology.

Manufactured in Perth, Australia, the new HYDCO 1200H is a high capacity drill rig with excellent hydraulic capacity, and is capable of both RC and diamond drilling applications. It features an upgraded 12 metre mast structure which produces 21.5 tonnes of pullback, while also providing increased internal space for make and break assemblies which retract internally when not in use.

Levison said the company had now won more than $36 million in new product contracts to Chinese customers since the start of the new financial year in July.

E-Z Drill Announces the Model 210 Twin Vertical Concrete Drill

E-Z Drill Announces the Model 210 Twin Vertical Concrete Drill

E-Z Drill offers the Model 210 Twin Vertical, a concrete drill attachment that is compatible with most skid steers and compact loaders. This rock drill system contains two adjustable vertical drills, making it ideal for pulling patches, slab-jacking and under sealing. The unit is designed for maximum productivity and is completely pneumatic, which eliminates the need for electric or hydraulic hook-up.

The 210 Twin Vertical utilizes CP 69 rock drills and has the capability of drilling a hole between 3/4 and 2-1/2 inches (19.1 to 63.5 mm) in diameter. It features a maximum drilling depth of 17 inches (431.8 mm) and requires a minimum of 260 CFM (7.3 m3/min) for operation. Drill spacing adjusts easily from 5 to 10 feet (1.5 to 3.1 m) on center. The feed system also includes an angular adjustment, allowing the drills to be positioned between 90 and 45 degrees.

For quick, convenient operation, the system can be controlled from the cab via pneumatic remote, which is powered by the same air compressor as the drills. To further enhance productivity, the patented roller bearing feed eliminates friction on the carriage to reduce replacement costs and help prevent downtime.

E-Z Drill offers a complete line of drill bits and drill steel to complement its systems. Other specialty drill designs are also available for attaching to skid steers or compact loaders. This includes the Model 110-3 SL, which is a swivel-mounted horizontal drill system. This unit is capable of drilling to either side or directly to the front of the carrier machine and can be configured with 2 to 6 drills.
